Kilgore Industries has again been named a Platinum member of the American Subcontractors Association – Houston Chapter’s (ASA-HC) Commitment to Safety (CTS) program. The 2026-27 recognition marks our third consecutive year at Platinum, following the 2024-25 and 2025-26 cycles.
The CTS program recognizes specialty contractors that run effective safety and health programs and train everyone from management to the field. It has three levels: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Platinum is the highest.
What Platinum Takes
To hold Platinum status, a contractor has to meet the program’s published safety and training standards, including:
- A three-year safety record with no OSHA willful violations and no fatalities or catastrophes resulting in serious citations
- An EMR of 0.90 or lower, or a three-year DART or TRIR rate at least 15% below the national figure for the company’s NAICS code
- A safety lead who reports to top management and holds OSHA 500 training or a CSP, ASP, or CSHO designation
- OSHA 30 training for the personnel who inspect work in the field, and OSHA 10 for every field supervisor
- Weekly safety meetings, documented self-inspections, and a 6-foot fall protection policy
- A qualifying jobsite inspection by the ASA-HC Safety Committee
- Active participation on that committee, with attendance at a minimum of 9 of its 11 meetings each year
- Mentoring subcontractors on our jobsites who haven’t yet reached the same CTS level

What Champion Status Delivers for Kilgore
Safety at Kilgore starts with leadership. The strategy gets set in the office, and our internal training sessions cover everything from OSHA courses to forklift training. In the field, that work shows up in crews who attend the weekly safety meeting, foremen who stop work when something looks off, and supervisors who complete inspections even on the busiest day of the job.
Congratulations to Kilgore’s leadership, our safety department, and every mechanical, electrical, and plumbing crew member who made this possible. Thank you to ASA-HC and its Safety Committee for continuing to raise the bar for specialty contractors across Houston.
